Arc cutting plant KEDU-04
Complete electric arc machines KEDU-04 represent the own development of Composite Materials Ltd. They have been manufactured since 1989. Equipment allows cutting of steel and iron scrap, bimetals, titanium, copper and aluminium scrap, etc. The principle of operation includes the creation of the electric arc between the metal to be cut and the graphite electrode. The high temperature of the arc ensures the metal melting within the cutting zone.
 
KEDU-04 has been designed specially for enterprises involved in reprocessing of the scrap metal. Their distinctive features include the simplicity, reliability in operation and versatility. Equipment allows the cutting of practically any metal or alloy. The only necessary things for operating KEDU-04 are 380 V current source and graphite electrodes. The impurities or protecting cover on the metal does not affect the cutting speed. You can cut the multi-layer metal constructions for the one pass.
At enterprises of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy this equipment is also used for cutting gates, for processing surfaces of moldings, for preparation of furnace-charge, for cutting of non-standard casts and scum, for ladle pouring, for other metal scrap of large size.

Description of Equipment:
Equipment KEDU-04 is manufactured in several types and modifications. It is outfitted with power transformers of from 100 to 630 kVA capacity. Equipment is powered from 0.4 kV network and does not require the agreement for connection and permission from the side of Energonadzor.
The number of cutting stations and the maximum thickness of the recycled metals depends on the transformer capacity and represents from 1 to 6 stations.
The control desk of the machine is outfitted with starting devices, control instrumentation, devices of electricity recording. All components are mounted on a welded frame and protected by a metal housing.
 
The manual or heavy burners are used depending on the scrap metal type. The manual burner includes the current-conducting copper wire placed inside of the water-filled hose, electric holder, clamp and connecting electrical terminals. The water cooling in the closed cycle uses for heat removal from the current conducting wire and burner’s holder.
The heavy cutter outfitted with the frame for moving and protective screen is used for cutting large parts. The cooling system operates with water or with refrigerating liquid of "tosol" type.
The with a three-phase asynchronous motor is used for cooling the power unit of the machine.

Technical and Economical Characteristics:
Efficiency of equipment at cutting ordinary metal scrap: (per one manual burner):

The cutting of a ton of 3A steel scrap consumed:
- electricity 50-100 KW*h
- graphite electrodes 1.5 – 2.0 kg
The cost of graphite electrodes of 400-600 mm in length, of profile 10×15, 15×15, 15×20 mm, made by Composite Materials Ltd. is 46 RUR/kg. There is the possibility to use electrodes of EG type as per TU 48-20-86-81 or electrodes made by any other manufacturer of graphite articles.
All equipment of KEDU-04 model have a one-year guarantee. The service life of equipment is 10 years. Composite Materials Ltd. carries out start-up works, training of the personnel, supplies completing items and consumables.
